3d Printing Challenge

3d Printing Challenge

Over the course of Term 3, Ms. Cummins' 3rd Class took part in a 3D Printing Challenge with the support of Ms. O'Rourke.

The challenge prompt was: "Design and print an object that contributes to making your city, community, or school more sustainable."

The class was divided into smaller groups to design and create their submissions for the competition. After much discussion, the class decided to design, create, and print Bee Watering Stations.

The pupils did a fantastic job and should be extremely proud of themselves. To decide which group would represent 3rd Class, each team delivered a short presentation outlining the steps in their design process. Based on these presentations, the class selected the group that would submit their project to the competition.

As part of the competition entry, the pupils created a short video explaining each stage of the design and printing process. The final video can be viewed below, along with a selection of photographs documenting the work undertaken by the pupils.

The class was then invited to attend the Empower3D Celebration Event on Thursday, 28th May. The event recognised the achievements of all participants and provided an opportunity to announce the competition winners.

Although we were not successful in winning the competition, it was a valuable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved. The pupils gained new skills, worked collaboratively, and represented their class with great enthusiasm. Everyone should be very proud of their efforts and achievements.
